Worn by a soldier in the Paris District as a medical specialist. This patch was used in the AEF (AMERICAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCES)
for the Paris District, which while the war
raged was a restricted zone limited to authorized US personnel which included medical, MP, staff, and other related units and formations.
In ad
dition to the bullion patch the jacket also has two bullion overseas chevrons and a medical specialist patch. The collar discs are US and medical and both show distinct signs of having been on this jacket for decades.
An original patched AEF  jacket is desirable in its own right.
